We are gardeners and landscapers working right across Torquay, from the seafront and Wellswood out to Chelston, Cockington and St Marychurch. We are based in Paignton, ten minutes down the road.
Torquay gardens have their own problem: the slope
Most of Torquay is built on a hill, and most of its gardens are terraced because of it. That changes almost everything about how a job runs.
There is often no side access at all, so everything comes in and goes out through the house or up and down steps by hand. Retaining walls and steps do more work than in a flat garden, and when they start to go the whole terrace above them is on the move. Soil creeps downhill over the years, so the top bed ends up thin while the bottom one buries its edging.
A terraced garden we reworked
On this Torquay garden the terraces had lost their shape, the levels had drifted and the beds were more weed than plant. We cleared it back, re-cut the edges, laid membrane and gravel where planting was never going to thrive, and reworked the levels so each terrace reads as a deliberate space again rather than a slope with things on it.
Gravel gets a bad name but on a steep, dry, awkward-to-reach terrace it is often the honest answer. It stays put, it does not need mowing or watering, and it lets the planting you do keep be the thing you look at.
Everything else we do in Torquay
Regular garden maintenance on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly visit, hedge cutting, fencing, decking and timber, clearance of gardens that have got away from someone, planting and design, and ponds and water features.
Steep gardens and getting the waste out
This is where a lot of Torquay quotes fall apart. If there is no vehicle access, the waste from a day's clearance has to be carried out, and plenty of gardeners will not price for that or will not have the licence to take it.
We are an upper tier registered waste carrier (CBDU637846) with our own trailer, so we can take away far more in one visit than most, and the green waste is composted by hand and goes back into local gardens rather than to landfill.

Ring 01803 900096 and describe the garden, or send a couple of photos over. On a steep Torquay plot photos save everybody a wasted visit, because we can usually see the access problem straight away.
Regular maintenance rounds in Torquay
Most of our Torquay work is ongoing rather than one-off: the same gardens, the same faces, on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly visit depending on what the garden needs and the time of year. Mowing and edges, borders kept on top of, hedges cut at the right point in the season, seasonal tidying, and the small jobs that otherwise pile up.
Fortnightly suits most gardens through the growing season, with a stretch to monthly over winter. If you are letting the property or you are not there often, we can send photos after each visit so you can see the state of it without driving over.
Wellswood, Chelston, Cockington and St Marychurch
The older parts of Torquay have some genuinely lovely gardens attached to houses that were built long before anyone thought about getting a van near them. Stone walls, established trees, mature shrubs that have been there decades and steps everywhere.
Those gardens reward being looked after by someone who knows what is in them. A mature garden that gets cut back by whoever turns up loses in one afternoon what took twenty years to build. We would rather spend the first visit walking round it with you and working out what stays.
